"Meri Maati Mera Desh" to Commemorate the Soldiers Who Sacrificed Their Lives for the Nation

The "Meri Maati Mera Desh" (MMMD) campaign is nearing completion, with Amrit Kalash Yatras taking place across the country. The goal of this pan-India outreach project is to reach every home in the country. Multiple Ministries, State governments, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Zonal Cultural Centres, Central Armed Police Forces, Indian Post, Miety, and Coal are actively engaged in the monumental task of collecting soil from every household in villages and block levels in a significant collaborative effort. This collaborative project demonstrates their commitment to reaching this lofty aim, as well as their passion to community service and nation-building. To raise awareness about the campaign and improve outreach, the Ministry of Culture's zonal culture centres are organising cultural programmes in rural areas around the country. The Meri Matti Mera Desh programme has already been organised in over 4419 blocks, and public engagement has been phenomenal.

On August 9, 2023, the nationwide campaign "Meri Maati Mera Desh" was launched to honour the valiant individuals known as 'Veers,' who sacrificed their life for the nation. This endeavour concludes the 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav,' which began on March 12, 2021 and saw widespread public participation (Jan Bhagidari) through the organisation of over 200,000 programmes across India. The first phase of the Meri Maati Mera Desh campaign was a huge success, with widespread outreach and great popular participation. Over 233,000 Shilaphalakams have been built throughout 36 states/UTs to far. Nearly 40 million selfies with the Panch Pran promise have also been uploaded to the website. Over 200,000 felicitation sessions honouring Bravehearts have been organised across the country as part of the campaign. Over 236 million indigenous seedlings have been planted as part of the Vasudha Vandan theme, and 263,000 Amrit Vatikas have been created.

The Amrit Kalash Yatras will culminate in a magnificent event on October 30th and 31st, 2023, at Kartavya Path. During the grand finale of this nationwide project, a massive Kalash, symbolising our nation's unity and diversity, will be erected for ceremoniously mingling soil collected from every corner of the country and ceremoniously positioned in the Amrit Vatika and Amrit Mahotsav Memorial. This remarkable event will be enhanced with colourful cultural programmes as well as compelling light and sound shows, providing attendees with a comprehensive sensory experience. Participants will be able to profoundly connect with the essence of this historic campaign, appreciating the collective spirit of the nation and establishing a meaningful and permanent legacy to honour the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav through specially tailored experience zones.
